Mr Jatinder Mehra, Vice Chairman & Operating Partner, Essar Capital, was recognised by the Indian Steel Association (ISA) for his 50+ years’ service to the Nation’s steel industry. At the ISA Steel Conclave 2022 held at The Lalit, New Delhi, on November 21-22, 2022, Mr Mehra was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Chief Guest for the event, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Hon’ble Union Minister, Ministry of Civil Aviation & Steel, Govt. of India. Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, also graced the event as its chief guest, while Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, Hon’ble Union Minister of State, Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India, was the Guest of Honour.
Mr Mehra joined Essar about 25 years ago as Managing Director of Essar Steel Limited, and has since led many business transformations, operating functions and complex projects for the Group. In his current capacity as the Operating Partner for Essar Capital, he leads Business Strategy, Investments, Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Sustainability for various Essar initiatives, especially for the Metals & Mining portfolio. Prior to joining Essar, he lead several reputed public sector and private steel companies, including Steel Authority of India Limited and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited as their Chairman and Managing Director.
The event was organised by the Indian Steel Association, which is the premier industry body for the Nation’s steel sector. The Conclave was the Third Edition of ISA’s flagship event and brought together industry stalwarts to discuss pertinent issues, and deliberate on Indian and global perspectives of the steel industry. Over 40 speakers, brainstormed and discussed in 8+ knowledge sessions to decode current challenges and growth opportunities in the sector, Atmanirbharta in steel, steel logistics, innovation in technology and capital goods, low carbon emission steel, sustainable investments and other cutting-edge issues. The Conclave featured discussions between Senior Industry Leaders, Government and Consultants, and created a premier platform for the entire the Steel Ecosystem.
