Today, it will be 73 years since India’s Independence. Over these years, Independent India has given rise to numerous individuals and corporates who have made a mark globally and helped the Nation develop. But, nation-building can still do with more hands. Millions of transgenders in India still feel trapped within themselves, and struggle with marginalisation and alienation. Mere recognition and acceptance can go a long way in fostering inclusive growth, thereby helping them achieve complete freedom. They too wish to contribute substantially toward our Nation’s growth, and deliver to their full potential!
This Independence Day, Essar Foundation asks the Nation to spare a thought for the struggles faced by transgenders. Through the Rainbow Project and TransSchool initiatives, Essar Foundation has focused on empowering Transpeople and promote awareness and inclusivity. However, there is much to be done. It is time we look at freedom from their perspective, and pledge our support to ensure that they get to celebrate it too, just as we do!
