At Essar Foundation we believe in being a ray of hope to the underprivileged and marginalized sections of society. Sai Aadhar, in Bhatani Village, Palghar, is home to 38 children who were orphaned, found on the streets, or left-out by their biological parents for various reasons. Few of these children are mentally challenged too. The orphanage is always in need of ration, and Essar Foundation has been reaching out and supporting Sai Aadhar Orphanage for the past year. On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, Essar Foundation and Essar Constructions joined hands to bring joy to the orphanage, and provided them rice, wheat, dal, oil, sweets, sugar, tea powder etc, and also sanitary pads to girls residing there. Essar also provided them with two trampolines so as to enable the children to play during leisure time.
The guardian of the orphanage is Vishal Parulekar, aged 37 years, who works as a tempo driver and also does a part time job as a security guard at a construction site. His wife stitches clothes at a factory outlet, besides doing other small jobs. The couple works tirelessly not just to provide shelter and food to these orphans, but also education. They believe that educating these children will help them in their future and to come out of poverty.
On behalf of Essar, Dominic Dsouza and Tej Singh Barwa visited the orphanage and spent time with the children. Later they distributed sweets on occasion of Ganesh Chathurti. The Foundation team also provided the orphanage with financial support for celebrating and venerating Lord Ganesha.
