On 24 October 2017, Mr Prashant Ruia was part of an esteemed panel on ‘Power centers: Summit on energy for a sustainable planet’ at the ongoing Future Investment Initiative 2017 at Riyadh.
The session aimed to cover how volatility in the price of oil, significant advances in energy and environmental technologies, and urgent demand for infrastructure in response to climate change have combined to create both dynamism and uncertainty in the global energy sector.
The session started with a keynote address by HE Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Energy, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. At the plenary session, Mr Ruia was joined by Mr Tadashi Maeda, CEO & EMD, Japan Bank for International Cooperation, and Patrick Pouyanne, CEO & Chairman, Total S.A., France. The panel gave country specific insights on how investors should navigate the energy sector over the next five to 10 years.
During the session, Mr Ruia spoke about India’s growing energy sector as an attractive investment destination and why Essar has chosen to remain invested in the sector, as well as in other core economic sectors.
Mr Ruia also spoke about the role of technology in the energy sector, and the trends that could shape the future of the sector.
