Essar Steel is a premier supplier to the Indian Defence sector and to India-built warships.

Essar Steel is proud to have supplied high strength and corrosion-resistant steel plates used in the hulls of Shruti and Shachi, India’s largest combat vessels that were built at a private shipyard. Reliance Defence and Engineering Limited (RDEL) launched the two Naval Offshore Patrol Vessels (NOPV) at the Pipavav port in Gujarat on 25 July 2017.

Shruti and Shachi are part of a five-ship project for the Indian Navy. Essar Steel is a premier supplier to the Indian Defence sector and to India-built warships. Having established its capability to supply high grade import substitute steel products for critical applications in the Defence sector, Essar Steel has been contributing significantly to the Make in India initiative. It had earlier supplied high-tensile steel plates with high impact toughness to Mormugao, India’s most advanced guided missile destroyer, and to Goa Shipyard for building five Coast Guard offshore patrol vessels.
