Essar’s 50-year journey as a key player in India’s maritime sector

On National Maritime Day, we take a look at some of Essar’s ground-breaking projects, which hark back to a time, when the country was taking baby steps in the sector.

With a journey that has spanned 5 decades, today, Essar Ports is among India’s largest operators of ports with a total cargo handling capacity of 82 million tonnes, and a target to reach 110 million tonnes by 2019.

And Essar Shipping is among India’s largest private sector shipping companies with a diversified fleet of 13 vessels, which have a combined tonnage of 1.6 million DWT.
